Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), founded in 1993, is a research centre formed by the Generalitat de Catalunya's Ministry of Ministry of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise (DIUiE), the University of Barcelona's Faculty of Medicine, the Hospital Clínic i Provincial de Barcelona (HCPB) and the Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques de Barcelona of the Council for Scientific Research (IIBB-CSIC). IDIBAPS's fundamental objective is to integrate quality clinical research and high level basic research. The scientific production of the investigators of the IDIBAPS is one the highest in Spain.
In the CLL Genome Project, IDIBAPS participates through the Genomics Unit, lead by Magda Pinyol and Pedro Jares. This group is in charge of all gene expression profiling studies, genotyping analysis, and high throughput capillary sequencing activities. The Unit also has the responsibility for the coordination and management of all biological samples among all participants in the consortium.
